A woman was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after an alleged assault on the James Smith Cree Nation on Wednesday night.
The incident was reported to the Melfort RCMP just before 11 p.m. and police started patrolling the community and surrounding area.
Following a tip, the Prince Albert RCMP found the suspect driving west of the Muskoday First Nation heading towards the city on Highway 3.
Once in custody, the man was taken briefly to the hospital for treatment of a minor injury. He was cleared to be released and then taken to jail.
The 35-year-old suspect appeared via phone in Nipawin court on charges of assault and failing to comply with an appearance notice. He was remanded until his next court appearance on Tuesday.
