A man was rescued from the Beaver River after a crash Wednesday night, but a woman is still missing.
According to the RCMP, officers from Meadow Lake were called to the Beaver River bridge crossing on Highway 903 south of Pagan Lake after a truck rolled over on the bridge and ended up in the water around 7 p.m.
The truck was fully submerged in the water, the RCMP said, which is about nine to 10 feet deep with a rapid current.
“An adult male standing on top of the submerged was pulled by RCMP officers to shore with a rope,” the RCMP said in a statement. “He was transported to hospital with injuries.”
While the man was rescued successfully, police said an adult woman is still unaccounted for. Due to the water depth and current, the RCMP said rescuers are unable to safely enter the river to search inside the truck.
“First responders are working to remove the truck from the river and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team has deployed to assist with the ongoing search in the water,” the Mounties said.
The highway will be closed intermittently throughout the day Thursday as police work to locate the missing woman, the RCMP said. Drivers were asked to slow down in the area.
