Fundraisers set up to help families after P.A. triple homicide

McLennan explained the reason she was raising money was to help the immediate family during this difficult time.

“We can still come together at times of tragedy and pull together as a family and help each other out. I do not know the details. All I know is if I can help somehow I will,” she said.

A family member told paNOW Denis Carrier was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, and loved to decorate for the holidays.

Claudette Mooney is Denis Carrier’s cousin and said she received a phone call around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night from her son, who is close with one of the couple’s sons.

“I literally felt like I was trying to fight my way out of a horrific nightmare. I still feel like it’s a bad dream and that I’m going to wake up and it’ll be gone,” she said.

Mooney explained she and Denis had a special “twin cousins” connection, as both had suffered the loss of twin siblings.

“Denis would literally give you the shirt off his back. He was a burly, quiet guy that loved to work in his shop. He created the most amazing decorations and always had his house decorated for every holiday,” Mooney said.

“Sunday afternoon I texted Denis and told him that there was something big happening on his street and to keep me posted. Sadly, I will never get an update from him as he was that big.”

Mooney also knew Henry quite well and described her as being one of the kindest people you’ve ever met, and always had a big smile on her face.

Carrier and Henry had three sons, and LeeAnn Towriss has been close friends with the oldest brother, Denis Carrier Jr., for eight years. She said she has been unable to reach him in the past two days.

“I have messaged him, telling him I love him and we all do and we are here for him,” she said.

Towriss’s GoFundMe page has raised more than $1,200. She said Denis was very close with both his parents and his niece and nephew.

“He went over to their place as much as he could and would do anything an uncle would do with his niece and nephew, play with them, buy them stuff,” she said. “He liked to build a lot of stuff with his dad and was always talking about building a shed or a garage.”

As per a previous article by paNOW, a GoFundMe page has also been set up for the mother of the two children. As of Tuesday afternoon, the online fundraiser had raised more than $10,000.

Prince Albert Police have not released the causes of death, and charges are pending against a lone male suspect who was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Suspect known to the family

During a media briefing Tuesday afternoon, Police Chief Jon Bergen said the suspect was arrested without incident.

“We can tell you that the suspect is known to the family, although we will not be confirming details about the relationship between the victims and the suspect at this time,” he said.

Bergen said the limited information police released after the incident on Sunday was due to the suspect being at large and concerns to not compromise the investigation.

“He wasn’t in custody at that time and so it was important for the integrity of the investigation, and to ensure it led to the arrest without incident. It was important to restrict that information,” he said.

Bergen also released more details about the victims. In addition to the two adults, seven-year-old Bentlee and his younger sister were found inside the house. Police are not releasing the last names of the children.

“Five-year old Kendra remains in hospital with serious injuries. Her condition has been upgraded to stable,” Bergen said.

He said based on the evidence officers have on the incident’s timeline, the murders may have happened as early as Friday night.

Bergen said the suspect is being closely monitored due to mental health concerns.
