Second-degree murder charges are being laid after a man was found dead in his home on the Red Earth First Nation.
Dion Head, 43, was discovered late Saturday morning following a call to Carrot River RCMP about an injured man.
Not long after, Ernest McKay, 20, and a 16-year-old boy were arrested. Both have now been charged in the death.
“I can’t really offer any comment on a matter that’s still under investigation,” said Red Earth chief Ian McKay. “Other than to ask the media to respect the privacy of our grieving mother and her children.”
“The community is coming together to offer our support to the family and to all extended family,” he added.
The accused will make their first court appearance Tuesday morning in Melfort Provincial Court.
