A company in Nipawin has been ordered to pay $84,000 in connection to a workplace death last year.
Kevin’s Custom Ag Ltd. pleaded guilty to one violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, in Nipawin Provincial Court on Sept. 25.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Feb. 23, 2023, in Nipawin, which is around 142 km northeast of Prince Albert.
A worker was fatally injured as a result of carbon monoxide exposure while using a sandblaster.

The company was charged with, “being an employer that failed to provide and maintain approved blasting hoods supplied with air that is clean and at reasonable temperatures for workers engaged in abrasive blasting, resulting in the death of a worker,” read the statement from the province.
The court imposed a fine of $60,000, along with a surcharge of $24,000, for a grand total of $84,000.
