Saskatchewan has been working hard this summer to get Taylor Swift to bring her Era’s Tour to the province.
The hashtag #backtosaskatch is being used at events province-wide to get Swift’s attention. Wednesday at Saskatoon’s Centre Mall, C95’s Shauna Foster held her own #backtosaskatch event. Her goal was to make the world’s biggest friendship bracelets in hopes that breaking the record will convince Swift to come.
A volunteer at the event, Katie, said that hundreds of fans gathered to make the bracelet.
“The minute we started, our tables were full and everyone was making bracelets. We started the day with 209 meters of bracelet already made, I’d say we’d have to be close to 500 (metres) by now.”

The current world record for the longest friendship bracelet is 852.19 metres. This record is held by students at Valley Creek Elementary School in Texas. Saskatoon managed to make and collect 142 metres of friendship bracelets.
650 CKOM was on location to ask fans ‘what makes Taylor Swift so special?’
“I like Taylor Swift personally because she is an amazing singer and she’s like just awesome!” said Hana.
“People really appreciate how much work she puts into her music and how much work she puts into everything to even like do tours,” explained Taylor.
“I’ve always listened to her since I was little,” shared Brielle.
“It would be one of the best concerts in Saskatoon… I’ve seen clips of her concerts at other places and they are amazing!” said Brody.

There was one clear answer that all the fans commonly shared…
“If Taylor came that would be the best thing ever! I would try so hard to get tickets!” exclaimed Hana.
“It would mean a lot. I would instantly ask my parents for tickets and say ‘Hey can we go, can we go!'” shared Taylor.
“It would be so great, oh my god!” expressed Brielle.
Not everyone at the event was a Swiftie. One young girl named Nhikki shared that she was just there to help.
“I am not really a fan of her, but I just want to help her and all the other Swifties… I hope Taylor Swift can come back. It would be amazing if she can,” said Nhikki.
