Smoke from a large grass fire is causing issues with visibility north of Martensville, and police have asked drivers to avoid the area.
According to a statement from the RCMP, officers from the Warman detachment are responding to a “large and fast-moving grass fire” in the RM of Corman Park.
The fire is creating heavy smoke in the area and reducing visibility for drivers, particularly on Highway 12 north of Martensville.
“Please avoid travel in the area if possible,” the RCMP said in the statement. “Updates will be provided as they become available.”
In an update issued at 4:30 p.m., the RCMP said visibility has improved, but asked drivers to continue to take care in the area.
