The Regina Pats are bringing Sam Oremba home.
The WHL’s Pats announced Tuesday they have traded a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-rounder and a 2025 third-round selection to the Seattle Thunderbirds for the 17-year-old Regina-born forward.
Seattle chose Oremba with the seventh pick overall in the 2020 draft after he recorded 75 goals and 58 assists in 31 games with the Regina Monarchs AA team in the 2019-20 season.
As a 15-year-old, he had two goals and three assists in 15 games with Seattle in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 WHL season. In 56 games with the Thunderbirds last season, the 6-foot-2, 196-pounder had four goals and 10 assists.
So far this season, he has recorded two assists in two games with Seattle.
Regina returns to action Wednesday in Brandon against the Wheat Kings.
