The Saskatchewan Roughriders return to practice this week to take on the Calgary Stampeders, again.
The Stampeders and Bo Levi Mitchell are the Riders’ nemesis. They can’t seem to beat Calgary. Cody Fajardo doesn’t have a win yet against the Stamps but this week, the Riders need a win.
No, this isn’t a must-win game by any means. Must-win games are those that determine whether your season is over. The Riders aren’t there.
But in terms of the chances to host a playoff game, this is as close as it gets.
For the Riders to win, they need a combination of things to happen. They need to be able to stretch the field, Fajardo needs time to do that and Fajardo needs to find his touch on the deep throws when he gets that time.
With Duke Williams and Shaq Evans expected to arrive in the receiving corps soon, their ability won’t matter if the quarterback can’t hit them and the line can’t give Fajardo enough time to find them.
After a bye week, Rider Nation expects to see change and change is necessary or it’ll be the same ol’ same ol’ against Calgary; a loss.
