A house fire in North Battleford on June 4 that claimed the lives of a mother and her two children has been confirmed by the RCMP to be the result of a murder-suicide.
The woman has been identified as 39-year-old Tammy Fiddler and the RCMP says she is responsible for the deaths of her two children, seven-year-old Tessa and 11-year-old Wesley Bryant.
On June 4 at about 2:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a home that was on fire in the 1400 block of 99th Street.
When they arrived, they found the woman dead outside the residence. It was reported to police that she had been removed from the home by her common-law partner, who arrived just before the emergency responders.
The fire was isolated to the basement area, but there was smoke throughout the home. Once firefighters were able to gain entry, they found the children dead.
The Saskatchewan Major Crimes Unit South (MCU-S) began investigating due to the injuries observed on the woman at the time she was located.
MCU-S was assisted by the North Battleford RCMP, RCMP North Battleford Forensic Identification Services, RCMP General Investigation Services, North Battleford Fire Department, fire investigators from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
The investigation is ongoing, and the family has requested privacy at this time.
