Video being investigated, Saskatoon police officer on leave

A Saskatoon police officer is on leave as an investigation into a Facebook video continues.

Saskatoon police confirmed to 650 CKOM on Wednesday that Constable Patrick Skinnider is on leave. The video in question, posted on Feb. 13 by user Misty Kitzul, shows a blurred image of a child with a man yelling at another child as he remains off camera.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the post had been shared more than 800 times on Facebook, with the video climbing in views to over 46,000.

“We will conduct an administrative review once the other agency has completed its investigation,” Saskatoon police director of public affairs Alyson Edwards said in an email.

Edwards wouldn’t confirm a specific date for when Skinnider went on leave, but that “it is safe to say he began leave recently.”
