Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute early Wednesday morning in the 3100 block of Laurier Drive.
A man had reportedly broken into a home where a woman was inside. There were court orders for the man to not be there.
When police got to the call, they saw a broken window where the man had entered the home.
The man was attempting to hide from the police and refused to comply with commands.
Police said he became extremely combative, hitting an officer several times and attempted to choke him.
The man was taken into custody, after more officers arrived. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
The 26-year-old man from Duck Lake is charged with break and enter, assault a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, breach of probation and breach of conditions.
