An inmate attacked last week at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre has died from his injuries.
The man was taken out of Saskatoon Correctional in medical distress around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 23.
The unnamed inmate died Thursday morning at Royal University Hospital Thursday morning, according to the Ministry of Justice.
Two inmates on remand, Raven Constant and Nathan Ermine, were initially charged last week with aggravated assault in connection to the incident.
Ministry spokesperson Drew Wilby said the charges were laid after a review of video from the cells.
The file is now with Saskatoon Police Service major crimes unit.
An internal investigation by the ministry is also taking place and the file has been referred to the provincial coroner’s office for review.
