Saskatoon police are investigating after an early morning house fire was deemed suspicious.
The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday reporting smoke coming from a house near 17th Street West and Avenue H South.
The first engine arrived three minutes later to find a one-story house at 535 Avenue H South with significant smoke showing from the roof and eaves.
The fire department said crews then initiated an aggressive attack on the fire inside the home, while another crew searched for people.
No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Crews continued to fight the blaze, primarily in the roof and attic area. The fire was deemed under control around 4:30 a.m.
While the cause is still to be determined, the fire investigation found the circumstances to be suspicious. The investigation will continue with assistance from Saskatoon police.
The preliminary damage estimate is $250,000.
