A rash of thefts in the area of Punnichy, Sask., has led to the arrest of two people, the search for two others and the search for stolen property.
Earlier this month, three homes were broken into in the RM of Mount Hope and the George Gordon First Nation. A silver 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trail Hawk was stolen, among other items including flat screen televisions, guns, spare tires, helmets and snow pants.
Logan Owen Cyr, 20, of the George Gordon First Nation was arrested and charged with breaking into a home, theft exceeding $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with the conditions of a probation order and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Punnichy court again on Dec. 8.
RCMP also arrested Andrew James Cyr, 23, of the George Gordon First Nation. He was charged with breaking into a home, theft exceeding $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of guns. He also remains in custody and will appear in court in Regina on Nov. 29.
Police are on the lookout for River William Taniskishayinew, 22, of George Gordon First Nation. He has been charged with breaking into a home, theft exceeding $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of driving while disqualified.
A warrant has also been issued for the arrest of Cherish Emily Leigh Longman, 18, of Muskowekwan First Nation. She’s been charged with breaking into a home, theft exceeding $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a youth sentence.
RCMP believe Taniskishayinew and Longman are in the Saskatoon area.
Police also have not yet found the silver Jeep SUV. Anyone with information is asked to contact Punnichy RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
