Saskatchewan RCMP were asking drivers to avoid a stretch of Highway 303 on Tuesday morning.
Police were on-scene around 4:40 a.m. after a tanker full of crude oil caught fire just east of the intersection between Highways 303 and 684, around 35 km northwest of Maidstone.
Crews initially closed the entire highway in the area. By 7 a.m. police had issued an update saying traffic was flowing, but restricted to one lane.
Police recommended drivers use Highways 684 and/or 21 to get around the scene.
As of 10 a.m., police estimated restrictions would remain in place until about 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.
