The Saskatoon Library has a COVID-19 archive underway to remember this very extraordinary time of what life was like in Saskatoon during the pandemic.
Special Collections Librarian Stevie Horn says they have received more than 200 entries so far.
“Several of them were part of a large photo dump of images of Saskatoon being sort of deserted, back in March,” she said.
Businesses have also submitted to the archive.
“Including their planning documents for how they have adjusted to working in a more online or socially distanced setting.”
Submissions also include written memoirs and journals, videos, podcasts, cartoons and memes.
“We’re trying to collect things that capture both the negative and the positive aspects of it. It’s such a complicated time and we want to get a broad picture of it through this collection,” said Horn.
Eventually they are hoping to build a physical archive with hand made masks and some of the signage around town.
The digital archive is available now on the library’s website.
The Western Development Museum and Univeristy of Saskatchewan also have COVID-19 archive projects underway.
