A wildfire creeping out of Prince Albert National Park is causing concern for residents in the R.M.s of Canwood and Shellbrook.
Sask. Alerts has extended warnings for people living in the northern parts of the R.M.s as an out-of-control blaze continues to breach the southern boundaries of the park.
Communities east of Cookson Pasture to Little Red First Nation and south to the Cookson grid in the R.M. of Shellbrook are being put on alert.
In the R.M. of Canwood, people living within two miles of the Sturgeon River are being asked to be ready to leave.
Residents told 650 CKOM the fire breached P.A. National Park boundaries on Monday, sending plumes of smoke into the air.
The smoke and ash combined with some of the smoke from the “Rally” fire near the North Saskatchewan River in some areas, creating hazy conditions.
The province said they are currently assisting park officials and R.M. firefighters with the blaze.
