Saskatoon firefighters were called out to a blaze at a north end restaurant Friday.
Crews arrived around 5 a.m. to find flames and smoke visible on the roof of the Asia Buffet Restaurant, located on the 400 block of Circle Drive.
Battalion Chief Brent Hart said the blaze appeared to be coming from a part of the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. That said, he stressed that an investigator would still be looking over the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Crews used a ladder truck to attack the blaze on the roof.
Hart said firefighters encountered heavy smoke after breaching the restaurant’s doors to check if there was anyone inside and ensure no flames had spread.
“It was fairly thick, in fact, some of the sprinklers had activated,” he said.
The blaze was put out by shortly after 6:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. An estimate of the damages was not available at time of writing.
