A man has died while hunting northeast of Saskatoon.
Nipawin RCMP reported that they were called out around 8 p.m. Saturday to a field near the village of Weirdale, about two hours northeast of Sasktoon.
Two men, 23 and 22, both from Prince Albert, were apparently out hunting in the field around 7:30 p.m. when the 23-year-old was shot.
Police said the men were hunting separately and did not know each other. They reported that the 22-year-old called the incident in and remained at the scene until officers arrived.
Parkland Ambulance paramedics reported that they were called out to the area, where they pronounced a man dead at the scene.
Police said Monday the death is currently not considered suspicious, but remains under investigation by the Smeaton and Nipawin RCMP detachments.
An autopsy is expected to be completed this week in Saskatoon.
