A Kindersley bride forced to completely re-book her destination wedding is hoping for justice.
Brandy Richardson used Kindersley-based T&T Travel to book her wedding in Punta Cana, DR with friends and family.
But after paying $40,000 in deposits and fees, she said they never received a confirmation of the booking.
“It was crazy,” she told 650 CKOM in an interview.
“My phone was ringing off the hook, I was constantly emailing people (to figure things out).”
Richardson discovered only one room had been booked at their resort, but no flights or other rooms had been reserved.
Leslie Glauser, 44, who owns T&T Travel, has been charged with fraud over $5,000. Police reported they received around 250 complaints when they announced the charge.
Richardson said it was a shock given the number of people who had done business with Glauser before.
“Everybody had been booking with Leslie for over 10 years,” she said. “So for this to happen was just crazy.”
Richardson said she first tried to work it out with the resort she thought they had booked. But she said the agency had lied about prices, especially for children.
“It was $700 more than what he told us,” she said. “And those kids had already been told they were coming.”
After that discovery, Richardson was forced to find another resort.
She said Sunwing Vacations helped them with a new venue, but each guest had to contact and re-book, as well as deal with their credit card companies to try and recoup their funds from T&T Travel.
“Everybody got taken,” she said. “It was horrible.”
Glauser is due back in court in July.
