When officers stopped the vehicle on Highway #2, the driver was impaired and while they detained him, the passenger jumped into the driver’s seat and tried to get away.
The 39-year-old passenger was stopped by police, but while resisting arrest, he assaulted officers and provided a false name. Officers were not “seriously injured.”
There were two other passengers in the vehicles wanted on outstanding warrants from the Prince Albert Police, as well as the 39-year-old from Weldon.
The unauthorized, impaired driver was ticketed but was not charged.
The Weldon man appeared in the Prince Albert Procinciual Court on Tuesday.
