Police in the Queen City used an aircraft and a police dog to end a chase on Sunday evening.
According to police, officers spotted a vehicle they believed was involved in a previous accident in the area of Rae Street and Fourth Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. But when the officers turned on their emergency lights, the driver allegedly took off “at a high rate of speed.”

Police used their air support unit to follow the vehicle from the air, as it left the city and turned onto a grid road north of Regina, where officers using a tire deflation device attempted to end the pursuit.
“The vehicle continued travelling northbound until members of the Regina Police Service Tactical Support Unit successfully stopped it,” the Regina Police Service said in a statement.
According to police, the driver was arrested “without incident” while the passenger allegedly refused to get out of the vehicle and was bitten by a police dog. He was taken to hospital to be treated for the wounds inflicted by the dog, which police described as minor.
Police said the 27-year-old driver is charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous driving and failing to comply with a probation order, while the 24-year-old passenger was only charged with resisting arrest.
The driver appeared in court Monday, while the passenger is expected to appear in a Regina courtroom early next month.
