The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey team lived to see another day after a 3-2 win against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds at Melis Belsher Place in Saskatoon on Saturday in the Canada West semifinals.
The win means U of S now faces a must-win game three today.

The Thunderbirds got off to a quick start Saturday, making it 1-0 on a Jake Lee goal but Huskies defenceman Landon Kosior tied up the game late in the first period.
The Huskies then found themselves down 2-1 late in the third period until Chantz Petruic and Vince Loschiavo netted power play goals, handing the Huskies the victory.

Meanwhile, the Huskies men’s volleyball team completed a comeback against Trinity Western Spartans at Physical Activity Complex (PAC) in Saakatoon, winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-23 and 25-22 in their Canada West quarterfinal.
They now move on to a single elimination game semifinal against the top-seeded University of Winnipeg Wesmen next weekend in Manitoba.

Also at PAC, the Huskies women’s basketball team landed themselves a spot in the Canada West final against the University of British Columbia after beating Fraser Valley Cascades 63-45 in the semifinals, with Logan Reider putting up 19 points.
The win means the Huskies return to the finals for the 11th time in the past 10 seasons, and play UBC Thunderbirds on their home court next Saturday.

However, Huskies women’s volleyball team fell in straight sets in a close game — 25-21, 26-24, 25-22 — to University of Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford, B.C. despite top offensive player Lauren Attieh scoring 13 kills, and three aces, and face game three on Sunday to determine which team advances to the Canada West semifinals.
