Traffic restrictions have been lifted after the Regina Police Service confirmed a train derailment was blocking traffic in the western part of the city.
The train came to a stop at 10 a.m. but began moving again around 1 p.m.
In an emailed statement, CN said the locomotive was moving empty grain cars at the time of the derailment.
“There is no risk to the public and no injuries, fires, or leaks,” read the statement.

CN apologized for inconveniencing drivers but didn’t elaborate on what caused the derailment.
In a statement from police, it said emergency crews were on scene redirecting traffic away from 1 Avenue North to Mikkelson Drive and Dorothy Street Crossing between Read Avenue and Fulton Drive.
