The holidays are always a busy time for Zippity Zoom Toys in Regina, but from today things could get even busier.
Owner Tracy Bosche is anxiously waiting to see how many people come through the doors after the federal government’s two-month GST and HST tax pause started Saturday and runs until Feb. 15.

People in Saskatchewan won’t have to pay GST on things like prepared meals and drinks at restaurants, books, decorations, children’s clothing and children’s toys.
“We’re in the full swing of Christmas right now and definitely busier. Although we’re always busy with birthdays and other events, this time of year is especially busy,” Bosche said.

Zippity Zoom Toys is a local family-owned store on south Albert Street that has been in business since 2009. Bosch and her family also run the Zippity Zoom Hobby Room, also on Albert Street.
“Christmas is Christmas,” Bosche said.
“You’re in it and everybody is always picking out something for their little ones, friends, loved ones and so it’s busy, no matter what.”
On a moderately busy Friday afternoon, Bosche and her team were helping customers pick out gifts.
Bosche said making dreams come true and helping people find the perfect gifts for their loved ones is why she went into the toy business.

“This honestly is my dream, owning a toy store. I love it,” she said.
“I loved seeing all the smiles on parents’ faces, kids’ faces, grandparents’ faces. It is just amazing for all of us to be able to share and helping everybody else make their Christmas dreams come true.”
Bosche said they try to be as accommodating as possible to customers — even sending them to other stores in the city if they don’t have a particular item.
Zippity Zoom offers online services as well, although as an independent business Bosche said she’s not really by driven by competing with larger online shopping companies.
“There’s something to a brick and mortar store and having people come in and literally see the magic behind a toy store, and we never want to lose this,” she said.
“Although we have extended an online store with our store, it’s very small. It’s really just for local delivery to let people be able to get something delivered last minute.”
