The Saskatoon Police Service made the announcement on Wednesday morning, but noted that the investigation into Derek Sarazin’s disappearance remains open.

Sarazin, 48, was last seen at his home on the afternoon of November 22, and was reported missing the following day. According to police, Sarazin was fond of walking along both the east and west banks of the river.
“As a result of continued investigation, police believe it is possible Derek may be in the South Saskatchewan River,” the police service said in a statement on Monday. “Investigators do not believe foul play to be a factor in this investigation and there is no risk to public safety.”
At the time, police said the search – which extended from the University Bridge beyond the Canadian Pacific Railway Bridge – might take multiple days to complete due to the cold and icy conditions and the large area being searched.
Sarazin was described as 5’10” in height, weighing 220 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes, and short, brown/grey hair. He may be wearing a grey jacket with four snap-closure pockets on the front.
