Wax up your skis – Mission Ridge Winter Park in Fort Qu’Appelle is opening for the season this weekend.
All the runs will be groomed and ready for the opening day on Friday, and the tube park is set to open on Saturday.
Ski Hill manager Anders Svenson said conditions on the hill are perfect during an appearance on 980 CJME’s Greg Morgan Morning Show.
Listen to Svenson on the Greg Morgan Morning Show:
“We have not seen an opening weekend where we’ve got this much natural snow to mix in with our man-made (snow) in I can’t remember, so I would argue it will be one of the best opening weekends that we’ve had,” Svenson said.

Svenson said Mother Nature has been on the ski hill’s side lately, with some major snow dumps and an 11-day cold stretch which was perfect to make more snow.
“The natural snow that we got when we packed it down with the Cat turned out to be about anywhere from an inch to three-quarters of an inch. We need 30 inches,” he explained.
“What we were able to produce in the 11 days was about 30 times what we got from Mother Nature, to put it into perspective, so it’s critical that we get those cold temperatures.”
The Mission Ridge Winter Park lifts run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
