Canada’s largest indoor Remembrance Day service is getting ready for its annual ceremony.
It takes place at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, and thousands will gather inside the arena, but instead of watching hockey they will be paying their respects to Canada’s veterans.
Malcolm Young, Program Director said they are proud to be the largest service.
“Year over year I’m proud to say that thousands of our fellow citizens come to Sasktel Centre and participate in our November 11th service,” Young said. “We usually get over 6000 people every year, (and) we’re the largest indoor parade by virtue of the number of people we actually have participating.”

Each year the service also honours specific veterans, Young said that this year will be no different.
“This year, His Honour the Honourable Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will be joining us for his last official November 11th service as lieutenant governor,” he said.
The service will also feature the President of the Army, Navy and Air force Veterans Unit 38, Al Boyce who fought in the Gulf War.
“It’s rare that we have a veteran of the Gulf War,” Young said. “A war that very few Canadians realize that we actually participated in.”
Young urges everyone to participate in the Nov. 11 service.
The City of Saskatoon is even offering free transit to those who will be travelling to the service at the SaskTel Centre.
Buses will depart from three different stops: the Downtown Special Events stop — at the intersection of 23rd street and 2nd avenue — Market Mall and Centre Mall.
Buses from the two malls will depart at 9:45 a.m., and the ones at the special events shop will depart every 20 minutes starting at 9 a.m. with the last one leaving at 10:20 a.m.
Return trips will then begin immediately afterwards.
