SaskPower is once again providing a reduction in the carbon tax for those using electricity as their primary source of home heating.
According to the Crown corporation, those customers will see a 60 per cent reduction in the federal carbon tax on their residential power bills over a period starting on Friday and running until April 30.

“The 60 per cent reduction to the carbon tax rate rider was calculated based on the typical percentage of power consumption required for home heating,” SaskPower said in a statement.
“Depending on weather conditions during the winter months and levels of power consumption, customers could have their carbon tax lowered by up to $21 per month through the 2024-25 electric heat relief program.”
SaskPower estimated that 35,000 customers across the province rely on electric heating, based on numbers from last year’s program. The residential customers who have previously been identified as reliant on electric heating will see the reduction automatically applied to their bills.
The company said last year’s program provided an estimated $1.3 million in relief to customers who rely on electric heating.
