A new online series is hoping to scare up a few followers.
Joel Gaudet from Bellevue and Prehistoric Productions have teamed up to create Paranormal Prairies. The first episode launched today and is about a well-known ghost story in the Prince Albert area known as the St. Louis Ghost Light.
“The goal is just to get a significant amount of traffic on it,” Gaudet explained, adding if they can 10,000 views, they can perhaps get the funding to do the next eight episodes they have on the drafting table.
Filming for the episode started earlier this summer and involved students from the nearby school in St Louis. Phantom Light Distillery, which also took its name from the mysterious legend, hopped on board as a sponsor. There has been a lot of discussion with CN rail, the RM of Prince Albert and the Prince Albert Historical Museum and Gaudet said all they wanted to do is get to the truth.
“Did someone really die out there and who is it,” Gaudet said.
The legend is a conductor was hit and beheaded at this site, but his body was never found. The light is either his train searching for him or his lantern as he looks for his head.
Noting that he himself has seen the ghost light hundreds of times, Gaudet also acknowledged the explanations that have ranged from headlights off the highway to fireflies in the bush.
“If you’ve seen the ghost light, you know darn well it’s not a headlight off the highway, especially if it’s five feet in front of you,” he said. “There are no legitimate answers out there for it and we were like let’s try and see what we can do.”
Gaudet also confirmed reaching out and speaking to a number of property owners in the area. Two of them had zero issues with the film crew coming out, and the other, citing past issues with vandalism and mischief said no.
“So we respected that. We did not go on those peoples’ property and we were able to get what we needed with the locations we were granted [access to],” Gaudet said.
