An annual fundraiser is marking a major milestone this week.
The 25th annual C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer Research kicks off on Thursday at Lawson Heights Mall. C95 – sister station to 650 CKOM – will be broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., sharing stories from cancer patients, survivors and medical professionals raising funds for the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, in support of local breast cancer research projects.

Last year’s marathon set a record of $425,937, and since its inception the annual event has brought in more than $6.3 million in donations.
“We know that early detection saves lives, and that more funds for research means progress towards a healthier future for the women we care about – our mothers, daughters, sisters, and aunts,” said Nora Yeates, CEO of the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.
“We are so grateful to C95 and the radio marathon donors, who give so generously to this event year after year.”
The marathon began in 2000, when C95 morning show host Lisa Rendall was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer. Rendall, who passed away in 2011, shared her story with a positive attitude, sincerity and humour, helping to put a face to breast cancer in Saskatchewan and encouraging others to share their journeys as well.
“Her legacy lives on today through the C95 Radio Marathon, the people of Saskatchewan and the contributions they make year after year,” the station said in a statement.
Donations to the radio marathon can be made through C95’s website or by calling 306-374-GIVE (4483).
