A 20-year-old man is facing a manslaughter charge after a shooting death on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation.
Police were called to a home on the Cree Nation just west of Duck Lake at around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday.
“Initial investigation determined a firearm was discharged inside the residence, resulting in a 28-year-old male being injured,” the Mounties said in a statement. “EMS responded and provided initial medical assistance. The male died shortly after.”

On Sunday evening, police announced that a 20-year-old man had been arrested without incident on the Cree Nation, and is now facing a manslaughter charge. He’s expected to appear in court in Saskatoon on Monday morning.
