It was the night Saskatchewan Swifties danced like they knew their lives would never be the same.
The BacktoSaskatch movement attempted a world record for the largest Taylor Swift dance party at Country Thunder Music Festival in Craven on Saturday.
So will their lives ever be the same?
Results of the effort were still being tallied on Sunday, but Z99 morning show hosts Wheels and Cassity were ramping up the energy before the attempt.
“We have DJ Flatland Funk, put together a remix mash-up of Taylor Swift’s high-energy songs, and some BacktoSaskatch chants. It’s just constant energy for this dance party. So it should be great,” Wheels told CJME.
“The Canadian record is 3500 people — that happened recently in Toronto, this is going to destroy that. We’re talking 20,000 people losing their mind dance to Taylor Swift music.”
Wheels and Cassity joined University of Regina dance team for a choreographed part of the dance party.
“It is very complex,” Wheels said of the dance.

Wheels and Cassity began the movement by creating a video to encourage the province to get Swift #BacktoSaskatch and convince the star to return.
Swift has made four previous appearances in Saskatchewan, including stops in Saskatoon, Regina and Craven. The singer was last in the province when she hosted the Canadian Country Music Association Awards in Saskatoon in 2012.
Enticing Swift back to the province has spawned a number of creative efforts.
We’ve been rallying the province of Saskatchewan to help create a love letter to @taylorswift13 to remind her to come #backtoSaskatch. I’m always blown away by the effort and creativity of Saskatchewanians.

In June, Swift Current’s Deputy Mayor Ryan Switzer and MLA Everett Hindley announced that if Swift comes back to Saskatchewan, Swift Current will rename itself to “Taylor Swift Current,” “Swifty Current,” or some other name connection in honour of her time in the province.
And Cedar Creek Gardens added a Taylor Swift component to its annual corn maze.
Fans are also working on creating the world’s largest friendship bracelet. Swift’s current Eras Tour has seen hundred of fans swap friendship bracelets at her concerts.
“We are aiming for that to finish sometime mid-August,” Wheels said, teasing that there may be some “bigger announcements of partners coming.”
“We’re just constantly working behind the scenes. We’re aiming to have the final love letter pitch video by the end of her European leg of her Eras Tour in August.”
Wheels believes the campaign is working and that Swift will take notice.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been helping out thus far giving us ideas following the BacktoSaskatch movement. We’ve got some real momentum here. I believe that she’s going to see it and respond.”
