A 35-year-old man is facing a number of charges, including assaulting a police officer, after an incident in the city on Friday.
Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said in a news release on Saturday that officers were called to Midtown mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South after receiving a report of a public disturbance around 11:20 a.m.
Police assisted Community Support Officers with an agitated and non-compliant man refusing to leave the property, saying they believed the man to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
SPS said the man continued to act in an erratic and combative state and hit a constable in the face in the struggle.
Additional officers were called and used restraint tools to help remove the man, but a second constable and mall security guard were also injured while doing so.
Police said the man was medically assessed by a paramedic after his arrest and “assorted charges, including assaulting a police officer, are pending”.
No further information was provided about the injuries or charges.
