Ringing a doorbell and running away before the homeowner gets to the door could lead to criminal charges, police in Moose Jaw are warning.
The common childhood prank has seen an increase in the city recently, police said, with incidents reported in the late evening and early morning hours.
“If adolescents are found committing this action, officers may give a warning, but serious consequences could occur for repeat offenders, such as being charged criminally,” the Moose Jaw Police Service said in a statement.

“We are encouraging parents to talk with their children about the ramifications of performing this type of prank.”
The police service asked the city’s young people to cut it out and encouraged anyone who witnesses people playing the common practical joke to report it to the police.
