650 CKOM wins Best Radio Newscast on the Prairies at RTDNA awards

650 CKOM and 980 CJME received three prestigious Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Prairie region awards on Monday.

The Radio Television Digital News Association represents radio and TV newsrooms across Canada.

650 CKOM won Best Radio Newscast for a November 2023 newscast featuring the details of a carbon monoxide poisoning at the Wakaw rink during a hockey tournament and the ongoing budget deliberations for the City of Saskatoon.

The RTDNA also recognized individual efforts.

980 CJME senior reporter Lisa Schick was recognized for a second year in a row for Feature News for her story on the results of the ground-penetrating radar search for unmarked graves at the former site of the Qu’Appelle Indian Residential School.
