Police in Saskatoon were kept busy responding to at least three gun calls over the weekend, including a wayward bullet, an armed man knocking on a door and a man who may have accidentally shot himself.
In the first case, from Saturday morning, police were called to a location on Avenue F South for a report that a man had accidentally shot himself.
“Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. A firearm and multiple knives were also located on or around the victim,” police said in a statement.
The 43-year-old man was also found to have ammunition, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and fentanyl on his person, police said. He was taken to hospital for treatment of the gunshot, and also picked up several weapon and drug charges.

In a second incident, which took place just after 6 p.m. on Saturday in the 100 block of Avenue P South, a woman said she was sitting in her living room when she heard a loud “pop” and saw a bullet hole appear in her window.

In the third gun incident reported by police, officers were called to Avenue V South on Sunday evening for a report of a male suspect with a gun knocking on a door.
The suspect was gone when police arrived, but the officers were able to get a description of his vehicle. Police found the vehicle at a business on 20th Street West and Avenue P South where they arrested the suspect, a 17-year-old boy. Inside the vehicle, police said officers found an air pistol and a hatchet.
The boy is now facing weapons charges and a charge of breaching court-ordered conditions.
