A wayward cow was put down in Moose Jaw on Wednesday after it began behaving aggressively, running through residential yards and damaging a vehicle.
According to police, the bovine was seen at various locations near the Fourth Avenue Bridge.
“The cow was showing aggressive behavior and evaded all attempts to safely corral it,” the Moose Jaw Police Service said in a statement.

“Additionally, the cow traveled through nearby residential yards and neighbourhoods, which caused a public safety risk to pedestirans and vehicles. Police also discovered that the cow struck a vehicle causing significant damage.”
After consulting with “livestock professionals,” the police service said there were no other options to safely secure the rampaging beef, so the cow was euthanized and turned over to a livestock agency.
Nobody was injured during the incident, police added.
A similar incident happened in Saskatoon in November. In that case, police on foot and in an SUV were able to corral the cow back into a nearby trailer.
