And now that day-to-day work has been recognized with six nominations for awards for outstanding journalism in the prairie region.
The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Canada has shortlisted 980 CJME and 650 CKOM in the Best Newscast category.
For 650 CKOM, it is a newscast from November 2023 that featured stories about carbon monoxide poisoning at the Wakaw rink and the budget debate for the City of Saskatoon.
For 980 CJME, the newscast was from September 2023, the morning after parent rallies were held across the province in reaction to the government’s pronoun policy.
The RTDNA has also recognized individual members of our news team.
Brittany Caffet’s The Shell Lake Massacre has been shortlisted for Best Podcast.
Senior reporter Lara Fominoff’s series Stories from the Streets, which aims to humanize Saskatoon’s homeless population, was shortlisted in the Enterprise Journalism category.
Senior reporter Lisa Schick was recognized for a second year in a row for Feature News for her work at the Starblanket First Nation.
Shane Clausing’s visit to the Lang’s rink was shortlisted in the category of Excellence in Sports Reporting.
The prairie region winners will be announced in the fall.
