Now that the winter is over, it’s time for construction season to begin.
Drivers on the west side of Saskatoon – as well as those coming in from out of town – may see some detours. Neault Road, in the Kensington neighbourhood, will be closed for two months starting on Thursday as construction resumes on two new southbound lanes.
Matt Jurkiewicz, director of construction and design for the City of Saskatoon, said the project will help accommodate future growth in the city and nearby rural areas.

“As that area begins to develop, we wanted to make sure that there is an appropriate level of service for that road,” said Jurkiewicz.
“Not only for the city, but people that come through the city; that road is highly used as a bypass road for the trucking industry.”
The four- to six-year project will make Neault into a four-lane road. Construction first began in 2022 when crews laid pipes and created storm drains.
“This year, we intend to complete the initial two lanes from 33rd Street to 22nd Street,” said Jurkiewicz. “We’re doing the first two lanes in one direction. Once that’s done over the next couple of years, we’ll start the other lanes.”
This is a multi-phase project, but the number of phases will depend on the growth of the neighbourhood.
