The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders have added Jack Coan to their quarterback room ahead of training camp.
Coan played his senior season in the NCAA as a member of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after transferring from Wisconsin in the spring of 2021.
He played 13 games for Notre Dame, passing for 3,150 yards and 25 touchdowns while helping the Irish to an 11-2 record and a Fiesta Bowl appearance. He set records in the bowl game, throwing for 509 yards and five touchdowns in a 37-35 loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Prior to Notre Dame, the Sayville, N.Y., product played four seasons at Wisconsin with the Badgers. He appeared in 25 games and made 18 starts as he threw for 3,278 yards and 23 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound quarterback signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL draft. He attended training camp with the Colts before joining the XFL’s San Antonio Brahmas. He played eight games for San Antonio, throwing for 1,403 yards and six touchdowns.
After the 2023 season, he had tryouts with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
In Saskatchewan, Coan joins Trevor Harris, Mason Fine, Shea Patterson and Antonio Pipkin on the team’s quarterback depth chart.
