A Saskatoon mother charged with criminal negligence causing the death of her one-year-old child appeared in court on Wednesday morning.
On Saturday, Saskatoon police officers were called to the 100 block of Avenue T South, near St. Paul’s Hospital.
There, they found the deceased child.
According to The Canadian Press, the 42-year-old woman allegedly fell asleep in the bathtub with her son, leading to his death.
Melanie O’Soup made her second appearance on Wednesday in Saskatoon Provincial Court, appearing by video conference from Pine Grove Correctional Centre near Prince Albert.
Several members of her family were in the courtroom, including her husband and mother.

O’Soup was released from custody with several conditions, including that she report to a probation officer and not consume drugs or alcohol.
She must also take part in an outpatient addictions program, and cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 14 with the exception of her other children.
O’Soup is expected to be back in court in early April.
