8:30 – A traumatic situation in a Saskatoon hospital waiting room on Monday resulted in nurses calling to “stop the line”- a last-resort measure to sound the alarm about overcapacity and patient safety. Tracy Zambory, President of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, joins Evan to discuss the incident and what she believes needs to happen next.
9:00 – Nurses in Saskatoon are once again sounding alarm bells surrounding patient overcrowding in St. Paul’s Hospital. John Ash, the vice-president of Integrated Health Services for Saskatoon, joins Evan to discuss the steps that are being taken to improve the situation.
9:30 – Four long-time Saskatchewan Party MLAs and cabinet ministers won’t be seeking re-election in the 2024 provincial election. Earlier this week the party announced Finance Minister and Deputy Premier Donna Harpauer, Government Relations Minister Don McMorris, Crown Investments Corporation Minister Dustin Duncan and Advanced Education Minister Gord Wyant won’t be running again. Daniel Westlake, assistant professor in the department of political studies at the University of Saskatchewan, joins Evan.
10:00 – February is Saskatchewan Aboriginal Storytelling Month. Through the month of February, storytelling events are held by libraries and their partners in communities all across the province. Jessica Generoux, the coordinator of Aboriginal Storytelling Month, and Sundance Robson, an Indigenous life coach, join Evan to discuss the significance of this month.
10:30 – The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation is becoming increasingly outspoken about the dire situation teachers are facing in the classroom due to class size and complexity. Dene Nicholson is a library tech in the Saskatoon Public School system and the President of CUPE Local 8443. She joins Evan to discuss the how these issues are impacting the workplace experience of CUPE education support workers.
11:00 – Classroom size and complexity continue to be major sticking points in the ongoing impasse on a new teacher’s contract in Saskatchewan. How have other provinces handled this issue? Heidi Yetman, President of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation, joins Evan.
