Campers, rejoice!
Reservations for the 2024 camping season at Saskatchewan provincial parks will be accepted starting April 1 for seasonal campsites and on April 2-9 for nightly, Camp-Easy and group campsites.
According to the provincial government, fees will remain the same as 2023 for park entry, swimming, and Camp-Easy, nightly, seasonal, and group camping.
“Camping continues to be an affordable vacation option for Saskatchewan residents and visitors,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said in a release.
“We are happy to announce there will be no fee increases this year when visiting a provincial park. We hope this encourages families to take a moment to explore the beauty of our province and make lasting memories.”
People can start reserving seasonal campsites at all participating parks on April 1.
For nightly, Camp-Easy and group campsites, reservations open for certain parks on the following days:
- April 2: Candle Lake, Good Spirit Lake, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan Landing;
- April 4: Douglas, Echo Valley, Makwa Lake, Narrow Hills, Pike Lake;
- April 5: Danielson, Great Blue Heron, Greenwater Lake, Rowan’s Ravine, The Battlefords;
- April 8: Buffalo Pound, Bronson Forest, Duck Mountain, Moose Mountain, Porcupine Hills; and
- April 9: Blackstrap, Crooked Lake, Cypress Hills, Lac La Ronge.
Reservations are to start at 7 a.m. each day
The government noted the reservation system has some new features for 2024.
For group camping, the system has new search features to provide better search returns that meet visitors’ booking requirements.
The reservation system for recreation halls has been changed to allow for multi-day bookings and to allow visitors to change and cancel online.
Daily and weekly entry permits bought online in advance of a visitor’s stay are refundable if date or licence plate changes are required before arrival, with hopes of reducing entry gate congestion.
Also this year, 28 new seasonal sites across Buffalo Pound, Candle Lake, Echo Valley, Greenwater Lake and Meadow Lake provincial parks have been added.
For the first time since it was officially designated a Saskatchewan Provincial Park, Porcupine Hills campsites can be booked online.
“Visitors can look forward to a full list of signature events for another year with the return of Canada Day and Summer Cinema in many parks around the province,” the release said.
“Other exciting events to look forward to this summer include Back in the Boreal at Meadow Lake, Trade Days at Fort Carlton, Cannington Fair at Cannington Manor, Wind and Waves at Rowan’s Ravine and fall guided hikes at Echo Valley among other new programming and events.”
