What started as a simple curfew check led to Mounties rescuing a woman who had allegedly been assaulted and held against her will at a home on Big Island Cree Territory.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Pierceland detachment were performing a proactive check on Saturday to ensure that a 30-year-old man was abiding with his court-ordered conditions, which included a curfew.
“When officers were at the door they heard a female calling for help,” the RCMP said in a statement. “Officers located an injured female inside the residence. She was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.”
