The man who allegedly led police to the scene of his own crimes by pointing a laser at a police plane on Monday is now facing charges.
Police said the Air Support Unit was hit with a green laser at around 2:15 a.m., and the officers in the air were able to spot the person with the laser on the ground. According to police, the man who pointed the laser was spotted trying to break into cars and a shed.
“The ASU also observed the suspect, along with another male trying to enter a shed and several vehicles, one attempt was successful,” police said in a statement.

Patrol officers on the ground were directed to the scene by the airborne officers, and they arrested a 26-year-old man – who was carrying a laser – and a 33-year-old man.
Both were charged with possesion of stolen property, while the 26-year-old was also charged with possession of false identity documents and was found to be on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching a statutory release. He’ll also soon be charged under Canadian Aviation Regulation Act, police added.
“Police wish to remind the public of the dangers associated to pointing a laser at an aircraft,” the police service added.
