Nobody was hurt in a large house fire in Saskatoon’s north end on Monday, but the blaze left behind an estimated $750,000 in damages after spreading to a second home.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Zeman Crescent at 3:44 p.m., where they found a two-storey home burning. Utilities were shut down as firefighters began working to extinguish the flames. Three fire engines, a ladder truck and a rescue unit were all dispatched to the scene of the fire.
Despite their efforts, a neighbouring home caught fire before the blaze was finally brought under control at 4:42 p.m.
Nobody was inside the home when firefighters arrived, the fire department said, and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

“Five cats were retrieved from a home after the fire was brought under control,” the fire department added.
According to the fire department, an investigator said the fire “started between the two structures on the exterior.”
Damage from the fire was estimated at $500,000 for the home where the fire originated and $250,000 to the neighbouring home.
“No cause of the fire has been determined at this point,” the fire department added.
