One of the biggest names in music is expressing heartfelt thanks to a small Saskatchewan community.
Last Wednesday, a tour bus carrying members of Shania Twain’s production crew crashed on the icy Trans-Canada Highway near Wolseley. According to the RCMP, 13 people were taken to hospital for treatment after the crash, but none of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
At SaskTel Centre on Thursday evening, Twain took a moment before her performance to thank the community of Indian Head for helping out after the crash.
“I hope you don’t mind if I just take a minute before we get to the music,” Twain said.
“There are two members of our crew who were in the bus accident (Wednesday) morning. They are in hospital in Regina and they are on the mend, and on behalf of all of them I would like to extend a huge thank you to Indian Head High School, Indian Head Union Hospital and the local police officers on the scene.”
Twain said the local community stepped up to help in the aftermath of the bus crash.
“I spent the whole day and the whole night with everyone just talking about how amazing everyone local was,” Twain said.
“The high school in Indian head cooked for my crew … the crew specifically said ‘They cooked us pancakes!’ and they were so touched.”

Twain said she phoned the high school’s principal to express her thanks.
“I’m just so humbled by all of that kindness and generosity,” the singer added.
Twain dedicated Thursday’s show to her entire crew, both those in the accident and those who helped support them after the crash.
“It’s heartwarming and heartbreaking, and it really has been an incredible experience for all of us,” she said.
According to Prairie Valley School Division, the school took in crew members, offered the library as a place to rest and recover, and then cooked up a pancake breakfast.
“We want to give a big shout out to the Indian Head High School community, who went above and beyond to help out when a bus carrying crew members to Shania Twain’s concert crashed in bad road conditions just outside the town,” the division wrote in a social media post.
“We sincerely appreciate Shania Twain’s recognition of this great work at her concert last night and we wish all crew members a speedy recovery.”
