The killing of Greg Rayfuse is a 41-year-old cold case in Saskatoon.
On Tuesday, Saskatoon police again asked for the public’s help in solving the murder, which happened Sept. 5, 1982.
At around 1 a.m. on that day, the 26-year-old Rayfuse was found injured in the 500 block of Saskatchewan Crescent. He later died of his injuries.
Police subsequently determined that Rayfuse had attended a house party in the 800 block of Avenue J South. He left the party to walk home and police believe he was assaulted between 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 and 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 5.
The police release issued Tuesday said an autopsy determined that Rayfuse died of significant blunt force trauma to the head.
“The investigation into this historical homicide remains open,” the release said. “No suspects have been arrested but investigators believe members of the public may have information helpful in solving the case.”
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call Saskatoon police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
